So my Galant needs so mud flaps. a set of OEMs, if you can find them will run you 200-250 bucks. Rally Armor flaps run about 150-170 bucks. And I found some “universal” mud flaps at O’really’s for 25 bucks, A PAIR.

So I was wondering arount Tractor Supply to day and found this.

Kinja'd!!!

It’s conveyor belt material for a hey baler. It’s basically the same as what most timing belts are made of, 1/4 inch is tough rubber re-enforced with wire belts. it’s was 30 bucks for this 7 inch, by 5 foot piece, which will be more than enough for four mud flaps. I should be able to make some pretty heavy duty flaps. I’ll hopefully be posting the results tomorrow evening.

I remember seeing on a forum where someone made mud flaps from flexible cutting boards from IKEA. Lots of materials would probably work well.

You can also use plastic trash bins from the dollar store. I’ve seen them used as intake heat shields as well. Is there anything they can’t do?
